Home-Start

Supporting families in local communities

Home-Start's informal and friendly support for families with young children provides a lifeline to thousands of parents and children in over 337 communities across the UK.

Home-Start support is free, confidential and non-judgemental. Almost 25% of families refer themselves to Home-Start - which speaks for itself.

CLC Presentation Evening 2007

On Monday 24 September 2007 we celebrated our learners' success at the CLC presentation evening, where learners were given certificates of achievement in recognition of their hard work and effort in completing their adult learning courses.

Since opening our doors to the community in January 2006, Kettlethorpe High School Community Learning Centre has processed around 500 enrolments for our courses, with over 800 visits to our free Internet Cafe.

National Carers' Week
11 - 17 June 2007

Did you know that there are almost six million carers in the UK with around 520,000 in Yorkshire alone?

National Carers' week aims to raise awareness of the hard work and effort that thousands of carers endure whilst devoting their time to caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail or has a disibility.

BBC VIDEO AND STORYTELLING WORKSHOP

Come and join us on this BBC video and storytelling workshop.

Storytelling workshop - We look at what makes a good story and practice telling stories of our own.

Video workshop - get your hands on mini-DV cameras and learn how to use the equipment and make a short film, subject to availability you will be able to borrow these cameras and film your own story over the forthcoming week.

Review and consolidation - Working in small groups you will review your material and consider what else you may need to film your story. You will then look at how you want the film to be edited.

At the end of the course you will receive a DVD of your film and a certificate. Films may be shown on the BBC Big Screen in Bradford and on the BBC Bradford and West Yorkshire website www.bbc.co.uk/bradford.

KHS CLC now open!

Kettlethorpe High School Community Learning Centre (KHS CLC) is now open to the local community and shall be offering a wide range of courses to post 16 year-olds throughout the year. As a Community Learning Centre, we have created an open, caring environment in which members of the local community can overcome any fears they may have of getting to grips with the world of computers, the Internet and e-mail.
